Lee Nxumalo is an award-winning writer and content producer hailing from the city of Johannesburg. Graduating from Point Park University, a liberal arts college located in the heart of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Lee holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Film and Digital Arts with a focus on screenwriting.

With an adventurous spirit that has taken her on captivating journeys across Spain, Norway, and the United States of America, Lee's global experiences have enriched her storytelling abilities.

As a sports writer, Lee has covered the thrilling worlds of football and basketball. Her portfolio encompasses a wide spectrum, including the NBA, WNBA, FIBA, and African basketball. Beyond the hardwood, Lee's pen has also graced the pages of publications and outlets such as Red Bull, Red Bulletin, NBA, ESPN, NPR, Huffington Post, Mail and Guardian, and New Frame, to name just a few. Her contributions also extend into covering disciplines as diverse as cycling, skating, BMX, motorsports, and surfing. Recently, she was commissioned to write two chapters for the second edition of the AFRO SURF book – a comprehensive visual and text that covers an array of underreported sport stories in Africa by Mami Wata.

Outside of sports, Lee has also written and produced fashion, music, and culture content for brands such as Shelflife, Bubblegum Club, and Boiler Room. She has also worked in a copywriting capacity for Red Bull, Joyous Celebration, and Mercedes-Benz for sponsored content.

Lee is not only a prolific writer but also a skilled interviewer, having engaged with top-tier athletes, from NBA Hall of Famer James Worthy to Olympic Gold Medallist Roland Schoeman. Her dedication to storytelling was recognized with the prestigious 2022 Los Angeles Press Awards for Best Story on Gender and Society. 

Beyond her impressive professional accomplishments, Lee is a spirited individual. When she is not on her laptop typing fast, she can be found dancing in her living room when no one is watching. She also enjoys eating chicken wings while watching a copious amount of reality TV shows.
